Well folks... I'm 2 1/2 hours into this monster of a project, and here's where I stand. I honestly think I completed one of the hardest steps of the whole process tonight by removing the intake manifold. We'll see how well I did when I go to reinstall it. The key is going to be placing the wiring loom back where it was, and hooking up all the vacuum hoses correctly.
At this point, the intake is off, the radiator is out, and that's about it for the big stuff... I started around 9pm, got the car up on stands, cleaned and swept the garage, and starting pulling. About 11:30, I quit, with the intake and rad. lying on the ground. I'm pleased with my progress thus far...
I think I discovered one of the reasons for my rough idle. Appears that I'm missing a vacuum hose! Surprise, surprise as my rough idle started right after my FIRST attempt to get the leaking intake fixed. Now, I get to pull out the Helm and figure out where that hose was connected, and determine what I need to replace it.
Trying to remove the radiator by myself what a chore. I should have waited until tomorrow when I will have help, but of well! :) It's out. Now I have to figure out how to move that stupid AC condensor out of the way...
Well, I'm beat, and I have a LONG day tomorrow. Goal for tomorrow night is to have the heads off and the cam out. Should be achievable with a little help from Garth! :) He's planning to start around 2, and I'll hopefully be there around 3 or so...
Bed time...
